Shamshad Begum Vinyl Records
Shamshad Begum (1919–2013) was born in Lahore and broadcast on All India Radio from Peshawar and Lahore from 1937. Composer Ghulam Haider, who discovered her, gave her "Savan Ke Nazare Hain" in Khazanchi (1941), and when he moved to Bombay in 1944 she went with his team. From the mid-1940s to around 1960 she sang for Naushad, O.P. Nayyar, C. Ramchandra and S.D. Burman. O.P. Nayyar likened her clear voice to a temple bell, and her songs include "Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon" in Patanga (1949), "Kahin Pe Nigahen" in C.I.D. (1956), "Holi Aayi Re Kanhai" in Mother India (1957) and "Kajra Mohabbat Wala" in Kismat (1968).

Naushad is by far the most common composer and Shakeel Badayuni the most common lyricist, and she shares these records with Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Suraiya and Noor Jehan.
