Vinyl Records Online in India

Vinyl Records in Mumbai

Mumbai made most of the records we sell. The studios, the playback singers, the music directors and the pressing plants that turned Hindi film songs into objects were all here, and the city still has the deepest collector culture in India. This page covers what we ship to Mumbai, how delivery works, and how buying online compares with the city's own record trade.

The city that made the catalogue

Hindi film soundtracks are the largest Indian-language section of our catalogue, running from 1950s EPs through to the 1990s. Almost all of it was recorded, pressed and first sold in Bombay. Browse by decade — 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s — or by the people who made it: R.D. Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Shankar-Jaikishan, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle.

Buying online versus digging in Mumbai

Mumbai is the one Indian city where the secondhand trade is genuinely worth working: Chor Bazaar and the city's dealers have supplied collectors for decades, and there is a pleasure in digging that no website reproduces. What the stalls cannot offer is reliability. Condition is what you can assess under a bare bulb, prices depend on how you look, and a specific title may take years to appear. We list one copy at a time, grade the vinyl and sleeve separately, and photograph the faults. The two ways of buying complement each other more than they compete — plenty of our Mumbai customers do both.

Beyond Hindi film

Mumbai buys the widest range of anything we ship. Ghazal LPs and Indian classical recitals both go heavily to the city, as does Western music pressed in India — the rock, disco and jazz that EMI and Polydor licensed for the Indian market. Our Marathi records section is small but growing, and Maharashtra is where most of it goes.

Delivery to Mumbai

We ship from Bengaluru in rigid record mailers. Mumbai is a metro route and among the faster deliveries on our network, typically landing within a few days; cost and current timelines appear at checkout. Packing is built around corner protection rather than speed, which matters on the monsoon coast — a record that arrives late is an inconvenience, one that arrives with a split sleeve is a loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy vinyl records in Mumbai?

The city has secondhand dealers, the Chor Bazaar trade, occasional record fairs, and a handful of specialist shops. Online, we ship original Indian pressings to Mumbai with graded condition and photographed faults. For a specific title in known condition, online is usually the shorter path; for browsing, the city is hard to beat.

Are these original Bombay pressings?

The overwhelming majority are original Indian pressings from their period, on HMV, Odeon, Columbia, EMI, Polydor and Music India, bought from private collections. Where something is a later pressing, the listing says so.

How long does shipping to Mumbai take?

Metro deliveries typically arrive within a few days of despatch from Bengaluru. Exact timelines are shown at checkout.

Do you buy record collections in Mumbai?

Yes. We buy across India and arrange transport for collections outside Bengaluru — see selling your records.
