Vinyl Records Online in India

Vinyl Record Store

BollywoodVinyl is an online vinyl record store based in Bengaluru, holding more than ten thousand original pressings — Hindi film soundtracks, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam records, ghazal and classical recitals, and a deep English and international shelf. We have been selling records for over a decade, and everything in the store is an original pressing that has already lived one life. There are no reissues here and no print-on-demand.

What is in the store

The catalogue runs to roughly 9,500 LPs and around 570 45 RPM EPs, weighted heavily towards Indian film music from the 1950s through the 1990s. Hindi film soundtracks are the backbone — Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Shankar-Jaikishan, R.D. Burman, Naushad, Kalyanji-Anandji — alongside a substantial South Indian shelf in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu that is difficult to find assembled anywhere else. The English and international section covers pop, disco, jazz and instrumental records pressed in India for the domestic market, many of them in editions that never circulated outside the subcontinent.

How records are graded and packed

Every record is graded by hand and described honestly. We would rather lose a sale than send a collector a record that does not match its description, so listings note sleeve wear, seam condition and any marks on the disc. Records ship outside their sleeves in rigid mailers with corner protection — the single most common cause of damage in transit is a seam split from a disc left inside its jacket, and it is entirely avoidable. Every parcel is tracked, and we ship across India and worldwide.

Buying vinyl records in India

Physical record shops have become scarce in most Indian cities, which is why the majority of serious collecting here now happens online. If you are searching for a record store near you and coming up empty, this is the practical alternative: the whole catalogue is browsable, each copy is photographed and graded, and orders reach most Indian addresses within a week. One copy per listing — these are specific, individual records, so when one sells it is gone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a physical record store I can visit?

We operate online from Bengaluru rather than as a walk-in shop. The full stock is listed here with photographs and condition grades, which in practice gives you more to work with than a crate-digging visit would — you can see the grade and the actual copy before committing.

Are these original pressings or reissues?

Originals. Every record in the store is a pressing from its own era that has been sourced, cleaned, graded and listed individually. We do not stock modern repressings, and nothing here is manufactured on demand.

Do you ship outside India?

Yes, and we have done for over ten years. International orders ship tracked, packed in rigid mailers with the disc removed from the sleeve. If you are ordering something valuable and want particular carrier or insurance arrangements, write to us before checkout and we will sort it out.

How do I know what condition a record is in?

Each listing carries a grade and a written description covering both disc and sleeve. If you want more detail on a specific copy, ask — we will send additional photographs of the labels, run-out area, seams and spine. We would rather answer questions before a sale than deal with a return after one.
