Ravi Vinyl Records
Ravi Shankar Sharma (1926–2012), credited simply as Ravi, was born in Delhi. In 1952 Hemant Kumar hired him to sing backing vocals on "Vande Mataram" for Anand Math, and he made his debut as a composer with Vachan (1955). His scores for Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960), Gumrah (1963), Waqt and Khandan (1965), Do Badan (1966), Hamraaz (1967) and Neel Kamal (1968) are among his best known. His most notable work was for the Chopra brothers, from Gumrah to Nikaah (1982), with Sahir Ludhianvi writing lyrics for many of them. In the 1980s he also made a comeback in Malayalam cinema, credited as Bombay Ravi.

46 records here credit Ravi as music director. They are original soundtracks from his Hindi films, on LP and 45 rpm EP, and the 1960s dominate, with a later group from the 1980s. Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi sing on the most records, followed by Lata Mangeshkar, Mahendra Kapoor and Manna Dey, and the lyricists you will see most are Shakeel Badayuni, Sahir Ludhianvi and Rajinder Krishan. Look for Gumrah, Waqt (1965), Khandan (1965), Do Badan, Hamraaz and Neel Kamal.
