Rajinder Krishan Vinyl Records

Rajinder Krishan (1919–1987) was born in Jalalpur Jattan, in present-day Pakistan. He moved to Bombay in the mid-1940s to become a screenwriter and wrote his first film lyrics for Zanjeer (1947). He is best known for his partnership with C. Ramchandra, and he also wrote songs for Madan Mohan, Chitragupta, Hemant Kumar, Ravi, Shankar-Jaikishan, S.D. Burman and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. He wrote all the songs of Hemant Kumar's Nagin (1954), including "Man Dole Mera Tan Dole", as well as "Eena Meena Deeka" for Asha (1957) and "Tumhi Mere Mandir" for Khandan (1965). He also wrote scripts, and Padosan (1968) credits him for dialogue, screenplay and lyrics.

The records in this collection

52 records here carry a Rajinder Krishan lyric credit. They are original Hindi film soundtracks and song compilations, not albums in his own name, and the 1980s and 1960s are the largest groups. Among the composers are Ravi, Chitragupta, C. Ramchandra, Shankar-Jaikishan and Madan Mohan, and Kalyanji-Anandji, Bappi Lahiri, Anu Malik and Laxmikant-Pyarelal also appear. The voices are chiefly Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle and Mahendra Kapoor. Look for Nagin, Anarkali, Adalat, Khandan (1965), Tumse Achha Kaun Hai and Allah Rakha.

Buying Rajinder Krishan vinyl from us

Copies come mainly on EMI India's labels, including Columbia and Odeon, with a few T-Series pressings among the later titles. Older films often reached LP well after their release, so we note label details to help you place a pressing. We grade vinyl and sleeve separately, photograph the copy you will actually get, and post orders worldwide from Bengaluru.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Rajinder Krishan write every song on these records?

Not always. Anarkali, for example, also credits Jan Nisar Akhtar, Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri, and compilations mix several writers. The song credits in our photographs show who wrote what.

Is Rajendra Krishan the same lyricist?

Yes. His name is written both as Rajinder and as Rajendra Krishan, so you may see either spelling on these sleeves.
