The records in this collection
14 records carry an M.S. Viswanathan credit, all Tamil LPs. Most are soundtracks of films he scored after the partnership ended, among them Thanga Pathakkam, Pattikkada Pattanama, Annan Oru Kovil, Silambu (1990) and K. Balachander’s Poikkal Kuthirai. P. Susheela and Vani Jairam are the voices heard most, with T.M. Soundararajan and Malaysia Vasudevan, and the pressings are mostly EMI and its Columbia, HMV and Odeon labels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the collection include Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy records?
It follows records credited to M.S. Viswanathan alone, which means his work after 1965; soundtracks credited to the duo can turn up in singer collections such as T.M. Soundararajan’s.
Are these M.S. Viswanathan vinyl records soundtracks or albums?
Almost all are film soundtracks carried by the playback singers. The exception is Sri Krishna Ganam (1977), a devotional album with lyrics by Kannadasan.
