K.J. Yesudas Vinyl Records
K.J. Yesudas was born in Fort Kochi in 1940 and trained in Carnatic music under teachers including Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. He made his first film recording in 1961, for the Malayalam film Kalpadukal, and went on to sing widely in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. Hindi audiences came to know him in the 1970s through Salil Chowdhury's "Jaaneman Jaaneman", a duet with Asha Bhosle in Chhoti Si Baat, and Ravindra Jain's songs for Chitchor (1976). He has also recorded a large body of devotional and Carnatic music.

Yesudas vinyl records split between Hindi and Tamil, with Hindi slightly ahead: 40 original film soundtrack LPs from the 1970s to 1990 on which he is credited as a playback singer, not solo albums. The Hindi records, mostly on EMI, lean on Usha Khanna, Bappi Lahiri and Ravindra Jain, with Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar among his partners; look for Swami, Dada and Sawan Ko Aane Do.
The Tamil LPs, mainly from the late 1980s and 1990, come on Echo, Soundtronics, Sangeetha and AVM Audio, with Chandrabose or Shankar-Ganesh composing and Malaysia Vasudevan, K.S. Chitra and S.P. Balasubrahmanyam alongside him, on films such as Annakili Sonnakathai (1989), Periya Idathu Pillai (1990) and Silambu (1990).
