P. Susheela Vinyl Records
P. Susheela was born in Vizianagaram, in present-day Andhra Pradesh. In 1951 the composer Pendyala Nageswara Rao chose her after auditions arranged through All India Radio, and she was soon signed for a duet in the Tamil film Petra Thai (1953) and its Telugu version, Kanna Talli. She went on to sing in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and many other languages. M.S. Viswanathan is regarded as her mentor and gave her many of her most popular songs, and she also sang for K.V. Mahadevan and Ilaiyaraaja. Her best-known duet partners include T.M. Soundararajan in Tamil, Ghantasala in Telugu, P.B. Sreenivas in Kannada and K.J. Yesudas in Malayalam.
