K.S. Chitra Vinyl Records

K.S. Chitra was born in 1963 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, trained in Carnatic music, and was introduced to Malayalam film playback in 1979 by the composer M.G. Radhakrishnan. From 1985 she also sang in Tamil for Ilaiyaraaja, in films such as Sindhu Bhairavi, and went on to record in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi as well, for composers including A.R. Rahman and M.M. Keeravani. Tamil listeners know her as Chinna Kuyil, the little cuckoo.

Nearly all are Tamil film soundtracks from the late 1980s and early 1990s, with some Kannada records such as Jananayaka and the odd Telugu, Malayalam or Hindi title. These K.S.
