Suresh Wadkar Vinyl Records

Suresh Wadkar was born in Kolhapur in 1955. He trained under Jialal Vasant and taught music at Arya Vidya Mandir in Bombay, and in 1976 he won the Sur-Singar competition, judged by composers including Jaidev and Ravindra Jain. Both gave him early film work: Ravindra Jain a song in Paheli (1977), and Jaidev "Seene Mein Jalan" in Gaman (1978). Lata Mangeshkar strongly recommended him to film-makers, and Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog (1982), scored by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, was the turning point, after which he often sang for Rishi Kapoor. He also sings in Marathi and has recorded devotional music.

The 1980s account for nearly all of them. Laxmikant-Pyarelal are far and away the most common composers, with Usha Khanna, Bappi Lahiri, Kalyanji-Anandji and Ravindra Jain also present. He shares these sleeves most often with Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Anuradha Paudwal, Alka Yagnik and Kishore Kumar, and Anand Bakshi wrote the words for more of them than anyone else, with Anjaan next.
