Anuradha Paudwal Vinyl Records

Anuradha Paudwal was born Alka Nadkarni in Karwar in 1954, into a Marathi-speaking family. She made her film debut with a Sanskrit verse in Abhimaan (1973), composed by S.D. Burman. Wider recognition came when Laxmikant-Pyarelal kept her voice on "Tu Mera Janu Hai" in Hero (1983), and she went on to sing in films such as Ram Lakhan, Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin and Saajan. At the height of her career she chose to sing exclusively for T-Series, and at the request of its founder, Gulshan Kumar, she began recording devotional songs, which became a second career.

The records in this collection

118 records in our catalogue carry an Anuradha Paudwal credit. They are original film soundtracks on which she is one of several playback singers, not solo albums. The shelf is overwhelmingly Hindi and centred on the 1980s, running on into the early 1990s with titles such as Aaja Sanam (1992), with the odd Gujarati, Tamil or Marathi record alongside. Laxmikant-Pyarelal are by far the most common composers, and she most often shares these records with Mohammed Aziz, Shabbir Kumar, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar. Anand Bakshi, Sameer and Anjaan are the lyricists you will see most.

Titles include Meri Jung, Naseeb Apna Apna (1986), Khatron Ke Khiladi (1988), Suryaa, Nigahen (1989) and Ajooba (1990).

Buying Anuradha Paudwal vinyl from us

We grade every record by hand and judge the sleeve and the vinyl separately, then photograph the actual copy rather than using a catalogue image. Most of these LPs come from the 1980s, when cassettes were overtaking the LP as the main format for Hindi film music, and sleeve quality and condition vary widely, so check the photographs for splits, fading and writing before you choose a copy. Orders ship worldwide from Bengaluru, packed rigid and record-safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Anuradha Paudwal's bhajan albums in this collection?

This shelf is built from film soundtracks, and her devotional recordings for T-Series came out mainly on cassette. What you will find here are her film songs, including religious-themed soundtracks such as Shirdi Ke Sai Baba and Bhagwan Shree Krishna.

Why are so many of these records on T-Series?

She sang exclusively for T-Series at the peak of her career, and Super Cassettes Industries, the company behind the label, issued many of the 1980s soundtracks she sang on. EMI, Venus, Polydor and Music India pressings appear here too.
