Anwar Vinyl Records
Anwar Hussain, credited simply as Anwar, is a Hindi playback singer whose voice drew comparisons with Mohammed Rafi's. His first film was Mere Gharib Nawaaz (1973), and his break came when Mehmood and Rajesh Roshan chose him for Janta Hawaldar, whose "Hamse Ka Bhool Hui" became a hit. He went on to sing for Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji, Khayyam, Bappi Lahiri and Anu Malik; "Mohabbat Ab Tijarat Ban Gayi Hai" from Arpan (1983) is among his best-remembered songs. He has also recorded ghazals, bhajans and qawwalis.

Our Anwar vinyl records are all Hindi film soundtracks, nearly all LPs, mostly from the 1980s with some from the 1970s. 37 records carry his credit. None are solo albums: he is usually one voice among several, alongside Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Shabbir Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi. Laxmikant-Pyarelal appear most often as composers and Anand Bakshi as lyricist, and the pressings are mainly EMI, followed by Polydor and T-Series. Titles include Janta Hawaldar, Naseeb (1981), Ahista Ahista (1981), Vidhaata (1982), Sohni Mahiwal (1984) and Haqeeqat (1985).
