Amit Kumar Vinyl Records

Amit Kumar was born in Calcutta in 1952, the son of Kishore Kumar and the Bengali singer Ruma Guha Thakurta. He began singing professionally in 1973 and found wide recognition with "Bade Achchhe Lagte Hain" from Balika Badhu (1976), composed by R.D. Burman. His duet with Lata Mangeshkar from Love Story (1981), "Yaad Aa Rahi Hai", again for Burman, won him a Filmfare Award, and through the 1980s he was among the most in-demand male voices in Hindi films, working closely with R.D. Burman and Bappi Lahiri. After Burman's death in 1994 he withdrew from playback singing and concentrated on live concerts.

They are original Hindi film soundtracks on which he is one of the playback singers, not solo albums, and the great majority date from the 1980s, with a handful from the late 1970s and the early 1990s. Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Bappi Lahiri are the composers you will see most, followed by Kalyanji-Anandji, Anu Malik and R.D. Burman. Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar are his most common partners, his father sings on many of the same soundtracks, and Alka Yagnik and Mohammed Aziz turn up on the later ones. Anand Bakshi and Anjaan are the most frequent lyricists.
