Sulakshana Pandit Vinyl Records
Sulakshana Pandit (1954–2025) was born in Raigarh into a musical family: Pandit Jasraj was her uncle, and she was the elder sister of the composer duo Jatin-Lalit and the actress Vijayta Pandit. She began as a child singer, joining Lata Mangeshkar on “Saat Samundar Paar Se” in Taqdeer (1967), made her name with Khayyam’s “Tu Hi Sagar Hai Tu Hi Kinara” in Sankalp, and acted in films such as Uljhan and Khandaan.
The records in this collection
19 records carry a Sulakshana Pandit credit: film soundtracks on which she is one of the playback voices, not solo albums. Nearly all are Hindi, with a Marathi LP among them. The 1980s are best represented, alongside Taqdeer (1967) and Mahua (1969) from the late 1960s, and most are EMI pressings. Scores come from Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Khayyam, Usha Khanna and others. Look for Ahista Ahista (1981) and Patthar Dil (1985).
