The Doors The Doors 180g Vinyl LP (Original Stereo Mixes)

The Doors' debut album, released by Elektra in January 1967, in the Rhino Vinyl reissue first issued in 2009, on 180 gram vinyl with the original stereo mixes, as the hype sticker states. It was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood in August and September 1966 on a four track machine, produced by Paul A. Rothchild with engineer Bruce Botnick. According to Rhino, the lacquers for this reissue were cut at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood under the supervision of Botnick and Elektra founder Jac Holzman.

The band worked up much of this material on stage at the Whisky a Go Go in 1966, and the club fired them over a performance of The End, which closes the album. Side one ends with the full Light My Fire; an edited single version went to number one and carried the album to number two on the Billboard 200. There are two covers: Brecht and Weill's Alabama Song (Whisky Bar), with Ray Manzarek on marxophone, and Back Door Man, credited on the sleeve to Dixon and Burnett.

Is this the stereo or the mono version?

Stereo. The hype sticker says it features the original stereo mixes, and the sleeve prints stereo beside the catalogue number. Rhino issued the mono mix as a separate 180 gram LP in 2009.

Is this the 40th anniversary remix?

No. It carries the original 1967 stereo mixes. The 40th anniversary edition used a 2006 stereo remix, the first stereo version to present Light My Fire speed-corrected.

Is the record sealed?

Yes, it arrives factory sealed and unplayed.
