The fourth album, from September 1972, on 180 gram vinyl with the 2012 remastered audio. Recorded at the Record Plant in Los Angeles, produced by Patrick Meehan with the band, and the record where Sabbath stopped being only a heavy band.
Changes is piano and Mellotron with no guitar at all, written by Iommi after Bill Ward's marriage broke down. Laguna Sunrise is an acoustic instrumental with strings. FX is barely a track, just treated noise. Between them sits Supernaut, whose main riff Frank Zappa named as his favourite of the era.
The sleeve thanks the great Coca-Cola Company of Los Angeles, which was the band's joke about how the sessions were fuelled. The original working title for the album made the same point rather less obliquely, and the label declined it.
