Tyr is Black Sabbath's fifteenth studio album, first released by I.R.S. Records in August 1990. This is the 2024 remaster on a single LP with a lyric sheet, issued on its own in November 2024 after first appearing in the Anno Domini 1989–1995 box set. Tony Iommi and Cozy Powell produced it at Rockfield in Wales and Woodcray in Berkshire, and Leif Mases mixed it.
The line-up is Iommi on guitar, Powell on drums, Tony Martin on vocals and Neil Murray on bass, with Geoff Nicholls on keyboards. Iommi has written that after the devil-heavy lyrics of Headless Cross the band asked Martin to be more subtle, and he turned to the Norse gods. The back sleeve introduces Tyr as the son of Odin, and side two opens with the short instrumental The Battle Of Tyr, followed by Odin's Court and Valhalla.
Feels Good To Me was released as a single in September 1990, although the band have said it was included for that purpose and does not fit musically with the rest of the record.

Is Tyr a concept album?
Not by design. The title and several song titles draw on Norse mythology, but Neil Murray has said the album was not intended as a concept record.
