The album heavy metal is usually dated from, on 180 gram black vinyl with the 2012 remastered audio. Eight tracks, recorded in about a week at Regent Sound and Island Studios in June 1970 for roughly six hundred pounds, and released four months later.
The title track was written last, in a few minutes, purely because the album ran short. It became the band's only UK top five single and the reason the record was renamed from War Pigs at the label's insistence. The sleeve, however, was already printed for the original title, which is why the cover shows a man in a pink leotard waving a sword with no visible connection to paranoia at all.
Planet Caravan is the outlier and the one worth waiting for: Osbourne's vocal run through a Leslie speaker, congas instead of drums, and a jazz inflected guitar solo from Iommi.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the 2012 remaster?
Yes. The hype sticker specifies 180 gram black vinyl with 2012 remastered audio.
Why does the cover not match the title?
The album was going to be called War Pigs and the sleeve was designed for that title. The label changed the name to Paranoid after the single took off, too late to redo the artwork.
Is the record sealed?
Yes, it arrives factory sealed and unplayed.
Sealed and brand new, shipped from our Bangalore stockroom with a stiffener and a fitted mailer so the sleeve corners survive the journey. If you are new to the format, our record player buying guide covers what you need to play it.
