English Vinyl Records
Not everything in an Indian record store is film music. This is our English-language collection — several thousand LPs spanning rock, pop, disco, jazz, easy listening and classical, gathered from decades of collecting across India.
The headline names are all here when stock allows: The Beatles' Abbey Road, ABBA's Arrival and Voulez-Vous, Donna Summer's A Love Trilogy, The Ventures, Brenda Lee and Tony Bennett. But the real depth of this collection is in the orchestral and easy listening world that dominated Indian living rooms in the sixties and seventies — Bert Kaempfert, Ray Conniff, Franck Pourcel, the 101 Strings, Stan Kenton and Carmen Cavallaro — alongside disco-era curiosities like Cerrone's Love in C Minor and Afro-rock from Osibisa. It is a genuinely eclectic shelf, and half the fun is what turns up next.
Why English records from India are worth collecting
Many of these LPs are Indian pressings, made under licence by EMI India and released on HMV and related imprints for the domestic market. Indian pressings of major Western artists — the Beatles especially — have become sought-after in their own right: same music, different label variants, and far smaller pressing runs than their UK or US counterparts. Others in this collection are original imports that came into India decades ago and have been sitting in private collections since. Either way, these are records with history, not warehouse reissues.
