The third Black Sabbath album, from 1971, on 180 gram vinyl with the 2012 remastered audio. It was recorded at Island Studios in London between February and April 1971 and produced by Rodger Bain, his last album with the band before Tony Iommi took over production.
On Children Of The Grave, Lord Of This World and Into The Void, Iommi tuned his guitar down a step and a half to reduce string tension, which made playing less painful after a factory accident had cost him the tips of two fingers. Geezer Butler tuned his bass down to match. Sweet Leaf opens with a fragment of Iommi coughing, which Bain added as the intro, and on Solitude Iommi plays flute and piano as well as guitar.
The back sleeve carries the full lyrics. Master Of Reality reached number five on the UK albums chart and number eight on the US Billboard 200.
